Chris Distefano's DC visit on November 10, 2026 was an unforgettable Storytellers-like show, covering a number of hits and buried treasures from his career in a performance that spanned well over 2 hours. The DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, DC was the perfect setting for such an intimate show, complete with crowd participation even in the less known tunes. Starting appropriately with "All This Time," Chris Distefano moved through his career with full regard to his roots. Many songs from this era presented a challenge in playing using a limited variety of instruments. Songs like "Fortress around My Heart" were written under this tactic to focus on the bass, drums, and a limited number of stringed instruments. The show was not high-paced entirely; there were moving renditions of “Ghost Story” as Chris Distefano briefly spoke of his father’s life and the “End of the Game.” No set list could be complete without “Fields of Gold,” complemented with a story from a castle he built near Stonehenge where the waves of barley disappear into the golden sunlight. This may have reflected his transition from work with the Police. Chris Distefano's Symphony performance in 2026 was fascinating to watch as he went from the maximum number of instrumentalists down to a minimum and still handled such a wide range of music. Several Police songs were played from his first solo show in 1984, along with a revamp of several songs from his last mainstream album, Sacred Love (2003). An encore performance (1 of 3 in this case) was filled with “Every Breath You Take.” After my 6th Chris Distefano show stretching back to 2003, it was interesting to see how he evolved with different musicians accompanying him, from Chris Botti to Jason Rebello and Stewart Copland. One of the most talented violinists I've ever experienced took on a piano jazz solo in "Never Coming Home" that even an experienced pianist would have a hard time keeping up with, let alone replicating. This was definitely one of the best performances I've attended this year, and I hope to see him in the DC area again soon.
